Rabbana wajAAalnamuslimayni laka wamin thurriyyatina ommatanmuslimatan laka waarina manasikana watubAAalayna innaka anta attawwabu arraheem
Our Lord, and make us Muslims [in submission] to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation [in submission] to You. And show us our rites and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful.
(Surat Al Baqarah 2: Verse 128)
This dua is verse number 128 of Sura Baqarah. A brief introduction for Sura Baqarah has been included with the first Rabbana Dua.
This is the second part of the dua that Prophet Ibraheem and Prophet Ismail alaihis salaam made while building the Kaabah. As we envision the physical structure of the Kaabah and its geographical location, we also need to align the words of the dua to a specific place and time. Their physical location is in Surah Baqarah and their chronological location is at a specific time in the life of Prophet Ibraheem and Prophet Ismail alaihi salaam. A few verses earlier we are informed that Prophet Ibraheem requested that all his descendants be righteous and the response he received from Allah was, “My covenant does not include the wrongdoers” (2:124)…
